OT technician

Roles and Responsibilities

Prepare the operation theatre before scheduled and emergency surgeries.
Check the availability and functioning of OT equipment, surgical instruments, and supplies.
Assist surgeons and nursing staff during surgical procedures as required.
Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of surgical instruments according to hospital protocols.
Maintain aseptic techniques and follow infection prevention and control procedures.
Check and maintain OT equipment, including suction apparatus, operating lights, cautery machines, and other surgical equipment.
Verify the availability and expiry dates of surgical consumables, sutures, and other OT materials.
Ensure proper handling, storage, and transfer of sterile instruments.
Coordinate with CSSD, nursing staff, anaesthesia staff, and other departments.
Maintain OT registers, equipment checklists, sterilization records, and other required documentation.
Follow biomedical waste management guidelines and ensure proper waste segregation.
Report equipment malfunctions, shortages, incidents, and safety hazards to the OT In-charge immediately.
Maintain cleanliness and readiness of the OT before and after every procedure.
Assist in emergency OT preparation and ensure the timely availability of required equipment.
Follow hospital policies, patient safety procedures, and applicable NABH standards.
Maintain patient confidentiality and professional conduct at all times.
Participate in hospital training, fire safety drills, infection control training, and quality improvement activities.
Perform other duties assigned by the OT In-charge or hospital administration within the scope of training and competency.
